Really cool shots…!
A quick preview from Aussie bride Mel and Dubliner Richie’s Irish wedding. As an Australian in Dublin myself, I was super impressed with their staying power during the very chilly location portraits, having only had a few weeks to acclimatize after arriving in from tropical Queensland! More to come later..

Best Day Ever – Thank you so so much – you’re the best!!!!!! xo
Autumn painted an ideal range of backgrounds for my pre-wedding portrait with my Aussie Bride-to-be, Mel, and her Irish Groom-to-be, Richie. The guys live in my hometown of Brisbane in Australia, which tends not to see the diverse spectrum of seasonal colours on show in Ireland. So a wander around some of Dublin’s parklands gave us a chance to gush over our common love of the ornate shapes and design we see in trees during their seasonal changes here. Here’s a little peak at their portrait shoot.

Loveley wedding, everyone looks so happy. Also LOVE the Landy
Very nice coverage. Love that Jeep! BT
Michelle and Craig chose quite a fashion-orientated feel for their Brisbane wedding portraits. It suited their style and their personalities. I’ve decided to add this wedding to the blog because I get a lot of comments on it as one of my display albums. It often raises two questions – the style of portraits and the time allocation for portraits.
The answer for both is “It’s up to you”. Your wedding day is all about you, naturally. While that can be a cliched phrase, in reality what it means is that it’s my role as a photographer to show you a range of work, listen as you tell me what you want and advise you on how best to achieve it. I want to know what you do and don’t like; whether you have a preference for more fashion styled images or more candid styled images – or a mix of both.
It all comes down to me creating something which suits you as a couple. If you’re not normally a touchy-feely pair, then you probably don’t want to be drooling over each other in your wedding portraits! In this case, popping off to a location which creates an visually interesting background for me to take more candid portraits of you simply interacting with each other is probably more your thing. And if you’re a pair of smoochers, smooch away :)
In terms of time allocation, the honest answer is that if you want great photos you have to make the time for them. BUT.. This doesn’t have to mean being away from your guests for hours on end. It means considering, consulting, and planning. Allocating a person from each family to gather the required people for the family portraits has been working brilliantly for my couples lately. It’s a very efficient way of getting through the groups and moving on to the portrait locations. Choosing picturesque locations for your portraits away from, but enroute to, your reception venue is very popular. Aside from the range of portraits you’ll have, shooting away from your guests is usually somewhat more time efficient as we can focus on the task and get you back to your guests as quickly as possible. Whether you choose 1 or 300 locations for your portraits, we’ll work efficiently and creatively to give you what you want, and have fun in the process!

What better way to follow a beautiful Palladian villa ceremony at Marble Hill House in London than with tea and scones whilst cruising the Thames! More to come still from Katy and James’ wedding…

Nothing like a last minute pregnancy portrait! Eileen decided an urban portrait shoot might be a nice way of mixing up her daily exercise regime, 3 days before her due date, so we took her bump for a wander around Ballsbridge and the Grand Canal in Dublin. Looking forward to the new arrival’s first shoot once she reaches “the other side”!

The bump has arrived – A big congrats to Eileen and Declan on little Miss Cara Anna!
Tiffany and Conor were joined by family and friends from Australia and Papua New Guinea for their Brisbane wedding. Their day was full of loads of little peoples including younger siblings, nieces & nephews, and Tiffany & Conor’s ever-smiley little man Charlie.
The girls prepared for the day at Evolution Apartments with a city view over the Brisbane River. Conor nervously waited it out at Our Lady of Victories, until the girls arrived. Following the ceremony, it was off to Hillstone at St Lucia for their drinks reception and dinner.

And I do love the UPS man! It’s like getting presents (well.. if I ignore the connection to my bank statement)! A few new products arrived yesterday and I have to say I’m very pleased with them.
Whilst I love my Australian album manufacturers and their amazing quality and service, shooting more weddings in Ireland and Europe these days, ultimately means costly shipping from down under to this northern part of the globe. I’ve been overwhelmed with the enquiries I’ve received in this past month and have been humbled by some of the most lovely compliments.
So I’ve been researching some new suppliers a little closer to my Northern hemisphere weddings, and am happy that my new findings will enable me to pass the savings on to you, the client, whilst maintaining the premium quality that defines my brand. Keep an eye on your mailbox for updates on this shortly, or if you’ve not yet enquired, drop me a line via the contact page.

Long, long before I moved to Ireland, I swore that one day I would open a photographic art gallery+café somewhere on the west coast, after staying at my cousin Majella’s home in Clare, and falling madly in love with the coastal scenery. Okay, so I haven’t quite made it there yet, but on my ever expanding To Do list in life, there are still many boxes to tick.
One of those is to keep exploring, and keep snapping. If photography was “just a job” to me, I would have given it up long ago. In fact, when I moved to Ireland nearly 4 years ago, I was looking for a career change. What I found instead was that without a camera, I’m a very grumpy girl! So now that I’m back working for myself this year and creating my own images, life is pretty cool :)
This morning I’ve had a little catch up on editing my personal work. These landscapes were taken during a road-trip just before I headed back to Australia last December. They show the many moods of one afternoon in Connemara, Galway, on the amazing west coast of Ireland. Sorry Melbourne, this beats your four seasons in one day! ;)

Gorgeous! I want to visit Ireland now!
That just so looks like Connemara. One of the best places in Ireland. Love it!!! Be sure to check out Dingle and Donegal my 2 other favorites in that order
Thanks Viv :) Dingle has been a big favourite since I was first there in 1998. I’ll definitely to check out Donegal properly some time though.
